Day 51, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
I know this one will not be popular, but here it is anyway. Giving! Supporting your Church and being cheerful about it. I have a couple of close friends that say if they have anything left at the end of the month, they will give. Folks, it doesn’t work that way. Give to God FIRST, and you will have something left! I asked my dad several years ago what he thought about tithing. I was ready with my argument that now the Gov. does most of the things that the Church used to do, and that is more than 10%. Mom and dad have never had a lot of money. We grew up poor, did not know we were poor until we moved where some people had money. Can you imagine? Some folks actually had more than one pair of shoes! Dad said that he and mom had been tithing ever since he went into the Ministry. Through the tough times and good, putting God first. Dad pastored a lot of Churches in the past 50+ years. He would never take a salary, even though it was offered. He would donate the once a month offering for him back to Church. I learned a lot about Life, and my Owner’s Manual from Mom and Dad. Now before you get your panties in a wad, let me say I am not about to pass the hat for our Ministry. But we are told to give. “The Lord loves a cheerful giver” If you don’t want to support your Church because you don’t like the way they spend the money, well, that’s just Bull Crap. Change Churches, or start giving. Remember what Jesus said…”Why call me Lord, Lord, and not do the things I tell you?”
Giving is one of the things we are told to do.
Think about it.
Day 52, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
I have been doing a lot of studying, reading and practicing some of the Lessons. We can read all we want, we can listen all we want, but unless we DO what we read, it is all for naught. “It is not the hearer of the Word, but the Doer” Ever hear that? What does that mean? Can we really do that? Yes, we can! We start by loving God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. We love others as Jesus loved us. He did not come into the World to condemn the World, but to bring Salvation. We don’t have to “get good to get God” Get God and He will get you good. God will never make you do anything you don’t want, He will make you want to do His will. He will change our heart’s desires. He will give us Peace, even in the midst of the storm.
Give it some thought.
Day 53, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
Just a note on how I use my Owner’s Manual. First, I read it, and don’t look for ways to prove a preconceived notion that I have. I read about the writer, (you know, Mark, Luke, Paul, etc.). Then I read about what was going on at the time, and who the writer was talking to and about. Yes, I use other literature to help me understand, such as R.F. Youngblood’s Bible Dictionary, and other texts I get from different Divinity Schools.) Then I reference it to other passages, going back into Old Testament many times.
All the while, I am praying for understanding. When I get the “big picture” and include all research, then I pray some more I will take counsel from trusted sources, such as my Pastor, and my Dad. Then and only then, will I post on what I have learned, from my Owner’s Manual. I no longer believe something just because that is what I have always heard. I don’t “cherry-pick” verses to prove myself right and others wrong. I enjoy studying the Bible, doing research. It has made me a much better person, and a humble Servant of the Most High.
Try doing your own research sometimes, you might just discover some things you have heard all your life does not come from God’s Word, but from the opinions of men.
Give it some thought,
Day 54, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
We are to be a “peculiar” people. What does that really mean? I try daily to do as Jesus taught us. That means things like Loving everyone (yes, everyone). Why, you mean you love folks that want to harm you, that don’t believe the way you do, that hate you? Yep, that’s what my Owner’s Manual says. What about those heathen folk, those Muslims, those atheists? Yep, that’s what I am told to do. Is it easy? Absolutely not! But that is what I am told to do. To love my neighbor as I love myself! It took me a long time to learn to love myself, to accept myself, and realize that God does indeed LOVE me. And he always has. Loved me before I even was! Loved me while I was yet a sinner, Loved me enough that if it were just for me, He still would have given His only begotten Son. That is a powerful statement. I would suggest that Love is the most powerful thing there is. More powerful than hate, envy, greed, gossip, or any other sin. God IS LOVE. Not the erotic or Phillis type love, but the Agape type. I would further suggest that love and hate cannot exist in the same heart. We cannot serve two Masters. For today, I will love the Lord my God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength. That is what I will “spill” on those I come in contact with. Our Neighbors today are not just the people we live next to. It is everyone and every living creature that breaths the same air we do. Did not mean for this to be so long, but it is what is in my heart. Think about it. Who is your neighbor? How much does Jesus love you?
For we are to love others as He loved us.
Thanks for taking the time to read, comment, and share this.
God Bless, Love all of you!
Day 55, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
When Reading in Owner’s Manual last night about two men walking away from Jerusalem, “talking about recent events”. And a 3rd man appeared with them (hear that? He appeared) He asked them what they were complaining about. They answered (Davis interpretation) Are you new here? Then Jesus (yes it was Jesus, the Risen Savior) started with Genesis and brought it all the way to present how and why it had to be that way. They still did not know who they were walking with. Then, as it was getting late they turned into a place to stay and eat. the “stranger” acted like he was going on, but they “persuaded” him to come in. Catch this next part. As He broke the bread and blessed it, their eyes were opened, and they knew it was Jesus. And then he disappeared. They made it back to Jerusalem that night (bet they were not walking) and went to where Disciples were hiding. They told the Disciples what happened, and that they saw the Arisen Savior. Disciples? They didn’t believe. Then Jesus appeared in their midst. I could go on, but here is my prayer for all today, Open your heart to Jesus, and He will open your eyes to everything. Many are “hearers of the Word” but unless you have opened eyes, you won’t be a “doer of the Word” May Jesus open your eyes today. “He that hath ears let him hear”
Think about it.
Day 56, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
Today’s Lesson was (and still is) an invitation. You know who you are, and you feel the tug on your heart. Will you answer it today? Yesterday is gone, can do nothing to change it. Tomorrow is promised to none of us. Message me, and we will pray. We will help you find a good bible believing Church no matter where you are. You will know if it the rights on for you as soon as you walk in the door. We, and people all over the World, stand ready to help. It is Time to put some lessons to work. Somewhere someone reading this is ready to just call it quits, end it all, anything to stop the pain. How do I know? I’ve been there, and God would not place this in my Spirit if it were not true. Satan tried to stop this Lesson, trying to say people would make fun of me, etc. Know what? I don’t care. I made a promise to God, and I intend to keep it. Somewhere out there is a person under conviction, running from God, and toward the dark. I was in that darkness for several years. Now, I not only walk toward the Light, I walk IN the Light. If this is you, and you have the courage to take that first step toward a better life, pm me, we will talk in private. I don’t believe we need to tell the whole World, most wouldn’t understand anyway. If you are not sure, without a doubt, that should your life end today you would go to Heaven, I want to pray with you. Again, send me a message. Peace and God’s Saving Grace are yours for the receiving. Prayer Warriors, PRAY! Someone needs God today. Will be fasting and praying for today. Will you come? Take that first step.
Think about it.
Day 57, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
“What a friend we have in Jesus” is on my heart today. But from a slightly different angel. (Imagine that!) Have always heard, and believed, if you want to have a friend, be a friend. I ask myself today, am I a Friend to Jesus? Do I trust him; do I stand up for him? Am I proud to proclaim He is my friend, or in some situations and places do I keep that friendship hidden? Do I behave like a friend, everywhere, anywhere, and anytime? Can my friend Jesus trust me? Here is a thought; do I keep myself “prayed up” so I can pray for others without having to repent myself first? What are the qualities that we look for in a true friend? Jesus looks for the same thing from us. I have several people that I refer to as “friend” who are actually people I know. But REAL friends? Not so many. Today, I will direct my thoughts and actions to build my friendship with Jesus. How about you? He is your friend, but are you His?
Think about it,
Day 58, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
Going to get some response on this one! “Spare the rod, spoil the child” People have been using this as a justification to beat their kids for ages. Why would Scriptures say that? I studied. My conclusion? First, I looked at what a Rod was. Carried by a shepherd (with his staff) The purpose of the shepherds rod was to test the ground, make sure it was solid footing, safe for sheep to walk on. The Staff was used (with the crooked end) to pull sheep back from danger; get them out of dangerous situation. The Lord is my Shepherd, never known a shepherd to hit his sheep. or choke them. Owner’s Manual also states “provoke not your sons to anger” My experience (and schooling) teaches me that after a child is beyond a certain age (3-5) striking a child does no good, actually counterproductive. Logical consequences that is what works. Fear of parents does not a good child make.
Think about it.
Please feel free to express your opinions on here as well.
Day 59, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
STOP ACTING LIKE A CHRISTIAN! Got your attention, huh? I was fortunate to do Community Theater in the Boston area for a few years. Played lead male in God spell and Fantastic, played seven different parts in Anna and the King. That was fun, I enjoy acting. I would dress up, put on makeup, go on stage and for a couple of hours do my best to play someone I wasn’t. See where this is heading yet? When acting, it was for a short time, in front of people, to impress them. After makeup was off, changed into comfortable clothes, and was the real me again. OK, chew on this a bit. Don’t “act” like a Christian, be one! 24/7, everywhere and anywhere. When that person cuts you off in traffic, no problem! When you see someone who is “different” in anyway, do the Christian thing. See, the problem with acting is this; can’t do it all the time, it is an “act” Change from the inside out, let God’s Love live in your heart. Don’t “act” like a Christian, BE ONE.
Think about it.
Day 60, Lesson from Owner’s Manual
During this time of year, I like to meditate and put myself with the followers of Jesus. He knew what was coming up. He did not relish His crucifixion. At one point He prayed to “let this cup pass from me” Followed by “Not My will, but Yours Father” God’s Son, becoming the Sacrificial Lamb, for us all. His Blood becomes our “Passover” blood. In Egypt, as the final plague, The Jewish folks were told to take the blood of their lamb, the best they had, and mark the door of their dwelling, the plague would pass over any house where the Blood of the Lamb was applied. Thus it is for us, if we are covered in the blood of Christ. Best part? It is there for us to accept. Grace plan of Salvation. Tomorrow’s Lesson? Grace! Give some serious thought to what Jesus was going through, For YOU, and me.
Think about it.
