Day 101 Lesson from Owner’s manual
Get this picture in your mind’s eye…Jesus with a bunch of people was preparing to go into Jerusalem. Jesus called a couple of His disciples closer, and said something rather strange to them. He told them to go to a certain place, not too far away. He told them they would find an Ass and a colt tied up. Told them to bring the colt to him, and if anyone questioned them, say “My Master has need” (close enough) Well by golly, they went, and found the animals, started to lead colt away, and were questioned, all just as Jesus said. Now think for a moment. How did Jesus know all this in advance? He was very specific with the place, animals, and even to the questions. Another “little miracle” The owner when told that the Master needed it, did not question it all. Think, you are inside your house, and hear one of your cars being started (the compact) you go outside, find someone starting to drive it away. When you yell at him, he says his boss needs it. “Oh, OK then” Right! How did Jesus know? I believe he still knows what will be. This small thing of borrowing a colt was very important. He was going to ride it into Jerusalem. Most believed (even some disciples) that he would make a Grand Entrance into the city. The King in all his Glory. But no, it was on a small ass that he made His entry into the city. He knew this was the last time He would be going in. He knew what lay ahead. Think about that for a moment…He was going in to die. No one would kill Him, He laid his life down. For YOU, and for ME. As Easter grows closer, get into your Bible, read about it yourself. Husbands and wives, and children, can you gather together, and read this as a family? I hope some of you will do that. You will receive Blessings beyond measure. Your children will know it is not all about the egg hunt, or Rabbit. Know this is a bit verbose, Thank You for reading these “Lessons” thanks for sharing them, and especially like your comments.
Think about it,
Day 102, Lesson from Owner’s manual
Don’t know about you, but seems to be a lot of reasons to grieve lately. Many Loved ones passing away, homes and lives being destroyed, wars and rumours of wars. When I am in the middle of these things, it is hard to remain positive and be thankful. Yet, that is what I am supposed to do. Sometimes I weaken, and ask God “Why me?” and the answer I get is always the same. “Why not me?” Plenty of examples in my Owner’s Manual to guide me in my thoughts and actions. But sometimes, I must confess, I get lost in my “pity party” Does not take too long to snap out of it. All I have to do is pray, in Faith, Believing, and read from my Owner’s Manual. Years ago I would spend a lot of time “rolling in the mud” of my situation, but no more. My dad, who has been in the Ministry for over 55 years, has always told me “All things work for good, for those that love the Lord” Not some things, ALL things. And I have found that to be true. “Well, Claude, how can that be?” you may ask. It just is! Here is an example. As most of you know, my brother died last October, and due to delays, he was not buried until November, just a few days before he would have turned 67. Has good come out of that? Yes. He is no longer suffering, that brings me peace. Can just see him dancing in Heaven, His Spirit free from all imperfections. Yes, I miss him. But would not bring him back to this World if I could. Other “good” things; have been in close touch with family members out in Oregon, ones that cared for my brother, and held his hand as he breathed his last breath. And then there is my brother’s daughter. About a year before he passed Lisa Rae Davis and I started to stay in touch with each other. I had not seen her since 1969. Now, she is close to me, and that is a good thing. Also found I had a Great Niece, Jillian Rae. But the best “good” thing is this…I know my brother and I will meet again. In a place where there will be no pain, no sickness, no evil of any sort. If I search and pray, I can find good in every situation, every trial, every heartache. How? Because Jesus did. So today, I dwell not on my “troubles”, Instead, I rejoice in my blessings.
May God Bless?
Day 103, Lesson from Owner’s manual
Today, I am focusing on the good in my life. Good News Only, today. Beautiful day, dogs and cats want to cuddle, as does my wife. I know, there are a lot of reasons to be angry, sad, or just complain. But not today, not for me. What a joy it is to know that I will see my brother Alvin, Richard Young, Rick Norton, Ken Lyons, Hank Sasaki, and Leroy Crabtree again. These are just a few of my friends and relatives that cross my mind daily. What a Peace in my heart to know they no longer are suffering, and dancing with the Spirits. “Why Claude, you mean you are not sad?” The sadness is far outweighed by the Joy of knowing, without a doubt, that I will see them again. If tomorrow you read or find out I am gone, know that I am celebrating with all those who have gone before me. If you don’t have that Peace in your heart, please, get right with God. Remember, you don’t have to get good to get God. Get God, and He will get you good. Praise God, instead of telling God how big your problems are, tell your problems how big your God is!
Thanks for reading and sharing these Lessons from Owner’s Manual. Appreciate your comments as well.
Day 104, Lesson from Owner’s manual
“What a friend we have in Jesus” Been thinking about what it takes to be a good friend. I am not talking about “friends” that want to use you, get money from you, and when money is gone, so are they. When their need for you is over, swish. They are gone. No, I am talking about real friends. One’s those are there during good and bad. Ones that will go that extra mile with you. May not see them for a while, but when you get in touch, friendship stays strong. While on this Earth, can count the number of true friends one hand. But I learned a long time ago, if you want a friend, BE a friend. “Who will all our sorrows bear” Jesus is my best friend. “We should never be discouraged. Jesus knows our every prayer” The words of that old song are oh so true. Going to give you a bit of “homework” today. Remember the words of that song, if can’t remember, get an old song book and read them. “We should never be discouraged” After you have pondered on the words of the song for a bit, comment on what it means to you. Great thing is, different verses mean different things at different times, depending on where you are. Ask yourself; Are you a friend to Jesus? Remember, He is your friend through anything you may be going thru. He gave His life, for you, so that we may have life everlasting. Look forward to reading your comments. Thanks for reading these Lessons, feel free to share them.
Think about it for a while…”What a friend we have in Jesus”
Day 105, Lesson from Owner’s manual
Today went pretty much as planned. Thank you God. One thing that I did not “plan” on was presented to me. See, My wife and I feed a bunch of Ferrell cats down by the dam of Old Hickory Lake. Today, as I went to give them some food, saw a man that I have seen and talked to several times. He pretty much lives in his car, don’t know his full story, but today when I asked how he was doing, he just shook his head no. I said can I say a prayer for you? He thought for a minute, and then said no. He said, and I quote…”I believe there is a God, just don’t see what He has ever done for me.” Also noticed that he had no food in his old car, where usually I would see some canned meat or veggies. I was blessed enough to offer him some money, because I knew he was hungry, and broke. Was hesitant to accept for a moment, but I insisted. (In a gentle manner) He accepted, with a tear in his eyes. Then, my eyes were open. I told him I was going to pray for him. He was the reason I was where I was at the time I was there. What good would it do to talk about God, if he had not eaten in a couple of days? It would be a waste of time telling him how much God loved him, if his stomach was growling so loud he could not hear? Will meet him tomorrow, and we will pray together. For tonight, I am praying for him. To my knowledge, that is what the Owner’s Manual says to do. Think about it, pray about it, and then keep your eyes open. God will put people in your life that need your help, and that will give you a chance to be “about my Father’s business. See, it is not enough to just read the Owner’s Manual, we must act on it. I was blessed to have a bit of money on me that my wife gave me to go out for steak dinner. (Yes, she handles the finances; I am just no good at that!) Became very clear to me what I was supposed to do. I find peace in that. As Mick Shade says so well, look for ways to help others, to lift them up. Please, in no way am I taking credit for this. God gets the glory,, and tonight, a hungry man is eating, and preparing to share his beliefs with me tomorrow. Another one of those folks that will never be reached, if we are afraid to touch them.. I thank God that He continues to put people in my path that I can share God with. Comments welcome, thanks for reading this, share if you want, and welcome comments on this.
Day 106, Lesson from Owner’s manual
I have been stewing on this one for a while. The past couple of weeks I have met a couple of people that expressed disdain when I said God Bless. One man in particular that I see a couple or three times a week. Believe he is homeless, living in his car, doing odd jobs when he can.
When I told him I was going to pray for him, he just shook his head no. he said “I believe in God, but don’t see much He has done for me.” Could tell he was not going to elaborate at that time. However, a couple days later, he told me why he felt that way. Seems he used to go to church, but when he fell on hard times, he was no longer welcome in that “church”. We continue to Minister to him weekly, and he is praying for himself now as well. Here is what frosts my cake, how many so-called “Christians” have been guilty of this?
To hinder someone else from getting close to God is a very dangerous thing! I believe I read that it was “better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and cast into the sea.” I am not even going to try to understand why some “churches” put so many restriction and conditions on being a “member”. Do you sense a bit of disdain for such people/churches? To stand in such a way that others are not allowed to seek God is not what Jesus was about, and not what I am about either. So I am asking each one that reads this post, would you look in the mirror, and ask yourself, are you being a witness for God, or a judge of others?
One of the things that were so blessed about the Coal Miner Jamboree and Church Service was everyone was welcome, no questions asked. I am not making this stuff up, people. Read it yourself. Look around you. I believe the biggest sin we commit here on Earth is the sin of omission. “He that knowest to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” Tomorrow, and every day, keeps your eyes open. Look for ways to do good, and do not brag about it. This Lesson is a bit harsher than I normally write, but sometimes, I have to be bold, and follow God’s Word and His Will. Let me say this, I am aware of a great many of you that are doing it the way God intended, and not taking any credit for it.
God knows who you are, and you are gonna be blessed, if you are not already being blessed. Wish I had room to post the names of all you that I admire, but I know I would leave someone out. I know this was a long one, and I appreciate all who took the time to read this. I also thank all of you in advance who will share this. Moreover, I always welcome your comments. Please, know that I love all of you, but not as much as God does.
Think about it, God Bless.
Lessons from Owner’s Manual #107.
Has been a good day, but very emotionally challenging one. Visited the “Moving Wall” in Nashville this morning. It was set up in the Nashville National Cemetery. Past rows and rows of white crosses, and an American Flag on each grave, courtesy of the Local Boy Scouts. A US Marine saw me as I was walking up to the Wall. He looked at my cover, and Pin, and knew exactly what I was, if not who I was. He attached himself to me, and guided me to the panel where we found James Jenkins name. If you have heard me speak that name before, is because It was his grave that I visited in the early 90’s. The one I talk about in “Put Me Down” After exchanging salutes, it was off to Cow Boy Church for me. Special guest singer(s) was Glenn Douglas Tubb and his wife, Dottie L. Snow Tubb. He is an amazing man. Sang a song about Israel. (Tifi Levi, when I get a copy, will get it to you) Cash was still making us clap our hands and sing along on “I Got Jesus in My Soul” I remember singing bass part on that with the late Martha Carson. Dr. Harry Yates message was short, but effective. I believe it was about 14 people that prayed the Sinners Prayer with all of us. Then, after a good meal at TGIF, went home, and went on line. It was there that I heard Rodney Foster doing a song about Angel Wings. Not what I expected, was like someone just turned a faucet on. See, my brother Alvin took his Angel Flight just last November. When the wounds from Nam finally claimed his life. So, right now, I am going to lay down for a bit, relax and give Praise. A few years ago, with feelings such as these, I would be gone…doing whatever I could to ease the pain, anyway I could. Not today, and not for the past several years. I know it will get better the “it” being me.
If you are dealing with anything, and you don’t know if you can make it, give it to Jesus. For His yoke is easy, and His burdens light. Just don’t do like I did for several years. I would ask God to take care of thinks, then walk away, still worrying about it, trying to fix it myself.
Hope you have a GREAT day.
Lesson from the Owner’s Manual # 108
Seems I have good days and days that are not so good.. “Things” going a bit better. Seems every time I start to feel sorry for myself, God points out someone a lot worse off than me. Attitude is so important. Usually. I have an “Attitude of gratitude” Want to know just how good you have it? Spend a little time at a VA facility I mean walk around, look in the eyes of the Old Warriors. Know what? If you take just a little time to speak to one, shake their hands and say thank you for your service to our Country, you will see a glimmer of hope, and of pride in their eyes. Talk to them for a moment, and you will find they love this hunk of rock we walk on. And though all of them hate war, if needed, they would strap guns on their wheelchair and go rolling into battle. Perhaps it would do good to have each member of Congress spend at least 2 hours a month, with no reporters, or cameras man. Just one on one with the Veterans. Not to spin hype. To listen, I mean really listen. I bet things would be a little better. But since we know that Congress won’t do this, perhaps you and I can. In my many trips to VA, I always have to wait somewhere. And I am never alone. Strike up a conversation. Not hard to do. No one goes to VA because they want to. Reach out to a Veteran today, please. Not a Holiday, just another day. But you have the ability to change an attitude, even if it’s only yours “for I was sick and you helped me” “In as much you have done it to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me “Do something for Jesus today, don’t brag about it. But let us know. There are so many ways to do His will. FOR TODAY, IT WILL BE ABOUT DOING HIS WILL and not our own.
Thanks for reading all of this we welcome your comments and share if you want.
May God bless, Good night.
Lesson from my Owner’s manual, #109
Real short tonight. One of the most misquoted verses from the Bible is. “Money is the root of all evil” That is NOT the way my Owner’s Manual reads. It states “The love of money is the root of all evil” Gonna do this lesson just a little differently. Everyone reading this would ask you to make a brief comment on why these two sentences are different. Will let me know if you are really reading these, and also allow us to talk with each other, instead of about each other. So, to repeat “the love of money is the root of all evil.” Or “money is the root of all evil” Will eagerly await your comments.
Lesson from Owner’s manual #110.
Last Sunday (the 21st of August) we were blessed in so many ways. On the banks of Rock Creek, we had Church, and baptizing service. One person had been waiting a while, until I was able to make the trip. That was Jami Miles-Marnhout. She had been waiting for that day another lady, Rita Genoe, came from the next County. We were very pleasantly surprised. She said she wanted to “leave it all” in the water. It was an unexpected blessing. And then there was Anita Garrett- Richards, who drove from West Virginia, with her sons, because she wanted to be baptized. She was delayed a bit, and arrived after the other 2 had been baptized and I was back at my room, getting out of my wet clothes. She called, said she had just gotten directions, and was headed to Rock Creek. Long story short, we met each other at the Creek. It was her, 2 sons, me, and God. It mattered not that more were not there, .The Spirit of the Lord was all around. Some may ask “Claude what is the lesson here?” Very simple, if we show up, God will show out. Was a blessed time. And the joy we felt that day is available every day, every minute. Prayers work. To Rita, Jami Miles-Marnhout, and Anita, it is a wonderful journey you have started. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. You are children of the Most High God, and if God be for you, who can be against you. Share your Faith. And keep that joy you felt then. KEEP THE FAITH. And remember, if we show up,
God will show out.
